Description of Classroom Activities
Students will only be reading four sections of Walden. Each section will be correlated with an activity. Before getting into the more detailed discussions of virtue and environmental ethics, it may be helpful to discuss that ethics are not just questions about the nature of right and wrong, or how to act good or bad, but that ethics also deal with questions of the good life, and how to live one's life to the fullest. While Thoreau does deal with both issues, this module will mostly focus on his exploration of the questions of what is the good life, and how can one best lead it.
