The Ethical Revolution: Civics and Virtue in The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin.
by Frank Casale, Ph.D.
ExtensionActivities
Students can watch either the remaining episodes of Liberty, or Benjamin Franklin (http://www.pbs.org/benfranklin/) at home with their families. Each series is usually available at local libraries. Have students write a "video review" for extra credit.
Since Franklin used petitions to get public involvement and projects underway, students can choose an issue they care about, decide what needs to be done and by whom, and then participate in a petition drive, or they can brainstorm ways to become more engaged and to encourage others to become more engaged in their communities (e.g., their school or their neighborhood).
