ExtensionActivities

To the Students:

Project 1:  Look through various magazines, newspapers, etc. (on-line or print), and find examples of news reports and/or editorials and opinion pieces which you find contain examples of bias and/or propaganda.  Be prepared to discuss why these examples contain bias and propaganda, and to give reasons for your analysis of the news pieces.

Project 2: (Alternatively, or in addition to (1) above):  Imagine that you are a journalist who has been asked to write a news report about a newsworthy event going on in today's society.  Write a news report that you believe is objective, accurate, and truthful, and share this report with the class when you're done.  Have the class give you feedback on whether it really is objective, or whether there are any biases, etc.
